Woman Goes On A Racist “Coronavirus” Rant On A Melbourne Train

The racism coming out of the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic keeps on giving in Australia, with another attack happening on public transport. A video posted by “Melbourne Train Series 2.0”, shows a woman on a Melbourne train with her young daughter racially attacking a group of Asian/Asian Australian passengers yelling out from her seat to them:

“What’s with the coronavirus then” – basically placing the blame for the pandemic on the Asian/Asian Australian passengers – one of whom was wearing a face mask. Most of the video of that racist woman’s rants are almost incoherent but she can be seen in the video getting up in an attempt to get physically violent against the passengers.

Her daughter in the meantime is crying and urging her mother to stop the rant. The racist woman attempts to validate her existence by yelling out a number of time that she is an “Australian citizen” as she gets held back and told to stop by other passengers.

At the end of the 3 minute video the police are seen trying to sort out the situation. According to the site, this incident happened on the Cranbourne/Pakenham line and it happened in broad daylight. What is most sad about this video is that the racist woman has messed up her daughter and how her daughter sees people and society. Seriously in my opinion that woman is not fit to be a mother considering her daughter was pleading and crying for her to stop the racist tirade to no avail.

Remember, if you have experienced any racism or know of anyone else who has, please report it to our COVID-19 Racism Incident Report.

  1. This foolish woman needs to choose her battles wisely. For one, her clearly terrified daughter watches on while somewhat traumatized by her own mother’s unnecessary reactivity. Firstly she publicly acts out, from a place of fear, blame and grief. Understandably, we all want to protect and defend what we love. If we’re honest, who among us is really thriving and adjusting well, to the new “normal”? (I even forget what day it is, each day blurs into the next) How, when and where we defend what we love does not justify her manner of approach.
As for her justifying her righteous position at being a fully fledged Aussie citizen, while blatantly questioning if the Asian folk on the train have any claims upon their existence here, is outright arrogance and intimidation.

It is our collective duty to remember, that Indigenous Australians inhabited this great land for over 60,000 years, way before her or anyone of us arrived. We each have a collective duty to remember this fact. The Covid-19 virus is not the first, nor last disease to make a visitation upon us.

Now let’s weave in some old history. People who resemble this uninformed woman on the train – White Europeans – introduced the disease Smallpox, to which it had a major impact on world history, not least because indigenous populations of regions where smallpox was non-native, such as the Americas in 1634 and Australia in 1788 were rapidly decimated and weakened by smallpox (along with other introduced diseases) during periods of initial foreign contact, which helped pave the way for conquest and colonization. Let’s remember, history. And do so willingly. It matters. Especially now.
