In more awesome news coming out of the Commonwealth Games, para-athlete Madison De Roazario who has a Singaporean cultural background has bagged a Gold Medal for the 1,500m race for the para track and field. This is her 4th Commonwealth Games Gold Medal and it is also history making as she is the first para-athlete to win 4 Commonwealth Gold Medals! What an amazing feat!
Here is what De Rozario said in an interview about her win and history making (via ABC News):
“I realised I was going to be out front from one lap in. When you commit to taking the lead, you have to just back yourself,”
“Each race really does exist on its own, and so each one means as much as the last one.”
“It’s incredible to look back on a career and be proud of it as a whole, but you remember each race and how it felt in the moment.”
If you remember, Aussie swimmer William Xu Yang has also won 2 Gold Medals already at the Games!
Congrats!
