Holy cow! This is pretty huge and needs to be talked about to NO END! 26 year old golfer Minjee Lee who hails from Perth has just won one of the biggest world women’s golf tournaments ever. She has not only taken a major title, but has taken home a huge pay day, winning $US1.8 million ($2.5 million) winner’s prize — the largest in women’s golf history.

This major tournament win comes after The Evian tournament victory in 2021. Lee went into the final round with a 3 shot lead, and hit a birdie-birdie to basically seal the deal.

“It’s super special and such a great honour. It’s been my dream since I was a little girl, this is the one I always wanted to win.”

Lee is the third Australian to win the US Women’s Open after Jan Stephenson (1981) and Karrie Webb (2000 and 2001). Also her 54 hole score is the lowest in U.S. Women’s Open history, surpassing Juli Inkster by one shot- What a champion!
