If you have been following the figure skating events, you would have seen stellar performances and a lot of magic performed by Asian background figure skaters. Countries like Japan are up there with the men singles scoring a silver and bronze medals, and other champs like Nathan Chen of the USA who showed what a flawless performance means and looks like.

Now on the final night of figure skating events last night, Chinese pair figure skaters 26 year old Sui Wenjing and 29 year old Han Cong scored a Gold Medal for Team China, which takes China up the medal tally with 9 Gold and coming 3rd on the tally after Germany (2nd) and Norway ( 1st). The USA comes after China with 8 Gold Medals.
Pretty much, this Gold would be the final Gold Medal the host nation could win, and this duo if Sui and Han were favourites to win. They did have stiff competition from the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) who posed challenges to the Chinese pair.

In the short program yesterday ( before the free skate finals), they broke the world record and got 84.41 points. During the free skate finals Chinese pair scored a competition-high 155.47 for a total of 239.88 and a narrow victory over Russia’s Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov, whose 155.00 gave them what seemed a winning total of 239.25. Pretty much they needed to do a flawless and emotion filled performance to win and they did. I guess it helps that off the ice both Sui and Han are partners in real life ( quite cute if you ask me).
Congrats!
