Desmond Chiam (Joy Ride) and Ana Thu Nguyen (Suka) will be joining the cast for New Line’s Mortal Kombat sequel – Mortal Kombat 2. What is great about all this is that both Chiam and Nguyen are playing quite meaty roles. Chiam will be playing Edenian King Jerrod and Nguyen will play Queen Sindel.

This sequel comes after the success of the initial Mortal Kombat film by New Line back in 2021. If the brand name sounds familiar, yes it is based off the famous arcade/video game of the same name. Many of us who grew up in the 1990s would have fond memories playing the Mortal Kombat arcade games in Timezone etc – or on our video game consoles at home – if we were lucky enough to have one back then.
The first film follow MMA fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan) as he enters a world where he fights Outworld enemies to save the universe, it has not been revealed by New Line what this second installment will focus on. Tan is returning for #2, as well as Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.
