“Its Time For Asian Australians To Engage More In All Types Of Political Issues” – Check Out These Upcoming Events!

Erin Wen Ai Chew, the Co-Founder and National Convener for the Asian Australian Alliance (AAA) is imploring the Asian Australian community to be more “political”. She tells Being Asian Australian that:

For far too long we have been silent on anything remotely political. Australian politics and other institutions have taken advantage of our community and have reduced us as a token and as a community who prefers to stay silent. It is time for Asian Australians to engage more in all types of political issues – whether it be politics, empowerment, systematic issues, social issues etc.

In saying that, Chew is inviting the community to 2 events she is involved with and yes, they are political and yes we encourage all of you to engage and participate!

The Asian Australian Alliance’s “IN CONVERSATION” series will be with Creative Director, podcaster and comedian Diana Nguyen. In 2021, Diana was the overall winner for the 40 under 40 most influential Asian Australian, and she has recently been performing at the Melbourne Comedy Festival with her awesome work in “Chasing Keanu Reeves”.

Diana’s web series “Phi and Me” has just won a Screen Australia grant for television development and she has featured in a number of TV shows and current affairs programs such as The Project.
