Aussie Ma Lin Wins Silver In The Men’s Table Tennis Class 9-10 Team Gold Medal Match

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympics have come to an end, and it has been a great one for our Asian Aussies, particularly in table tennis.

We have already seen Australia Paralympic Table Tennis history being made when Li Na Lei and Qian Yang took home two gold medals in the Women’s Singles class 9 and class 10, respectively. The last time any Aussie took home Gold Medals at a Paralympics was at the New York 1984 Paralympics with Terry Biggs.

Aussie Ma Lin, who is also the captain of the Australian Paralympic Table Tennis Team has already won a Silver Medal  for the Men’s Class 9 Singles Final, and he now adds another Silver to his collection at the “Men’s Table Tennis Class 9-10” Team Final. Striving for the Gold Medal, unfortunately the Aussies were no match for the Chinese Team of Lian Has and Zhao Yiqing who are ranked #1 in the world, but coming second to the World #1s is already a great achievement. Also, like the Olympics, table tennis is the national sport for China in the Paralympics, so the competition was definitely stiff for the Aussies.

In any case, congratulations to Ma Lin and the rest of the Aussie team who did well to get to the Gold Medal Match!
