Olympic Soccer: Sam Kerr Kicks 2 Goals Which Leads The Matildas To The Olympic Semi Finals!

This is great news to see the Matildas progress to the Olympic semi finals. This is history making as it is the first time they have ever made it this far and have the opportunity to play in the Olympic semi-finals. The Matildas beat the Great Britain in a 4-3 nail biter match. Asian Australian player Sam Kerr kicked 2 of the 4 goals and that is pretty extraordinary.

Elated, Kerr talks about how happy she is to lead her team as Captain to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Semi Finals:

“I can’t explain how proud I am to be a part of this team and to lead this team out. Every day they surprise me, “

“We’ve got kids out there, we’ve got Mary [Fowler] who is 18 and I’m just so proud of everyone.”

This also makes Kerr the equal highest goal scorer for the Matildas:

“I haven’t seen some of these girls for two years and then we come out here and we play against teams who have been playing together for so long.”

Their next match will be against Sweden in the Semi Finals on Monday, August 2, at 9:00am (AEST).
