Refinery29 is an American multinational digital media and entertainment website focused on young women. It is owned by Vice Media. Pedestrian Group will be in charge of launching Refinery29’s Australia and New Zealand operations. The Australian team will include a team of 5 with 3 out of 5 of the women being Asian Australian women.
So who are they?
Alicia Vrajlal (formerly HuffPost Australia) will be Refinery29 Australia’s culture editor;
Pema Bakshi (formerly digital content editor at Vogue Australia, Vogue Living and GQ Australia) will be Refinery29 Australia’s style and living editor;
Maggie Zhou (formerly editorial assistant at Fashion Journal) will be Refinery29 Australia’s writer and producer.
The team will be headed by Zahra Campbell-Avenell, most recently the head of publishing and editorial at Finder who will be reporting directly to Pedestrian Group publisher Vanessa Lawrence.
This team looks so awesome and how great is it to see more Asian Australian women amplifying and making their voices heard.
