I am hoping to catch this at some point, as its based on the life of the Hollywood legend Anna May Wong. Family Law’s Fiona Choi will be playing this elusive Hollywood Asian American legend “Anna May Wong” in the theatre production of “Dragon Lady: The Many Lives and Deaths of Anna May Wong”. The production will be playing at the Perth Cabaret International Film Festival (19th – 27th June) at His Majesty’s Theatre. “Dragon Lady: The Many Lives and Deaths of Anna May Wong” will play at the festival on the 23rd June at 6:15pm and on the 24th June at 7:15pm (Perth times).
If you are in Perth and would like to see Choi on stage, you can purchase tickets here or click here to check out the film festival’s ticket giveaway. Here is an extract on what the production is about:
In this WA premiere, Fiona Choi (The Family Law, The Letdown, Golden Shield) captivates as Anna May in an intimate performance as she travels through Anna May’s past and tackles her demons.
With its scandalous reminiscences and sparkling musical numbers, Dragon Lady provokes questions about the heavy price of female ambition, and highlights struggles of cultural identity still painfully relevant today.
