SBS mini series “Hungry Ghosts” has been praised for not only its storyline, its bag of scares and lurking surprises, but one of the mini-series most unique traits is how the overwhelming majority of the cast and members of the crew are of Asian/Asian Australian descent. The lead, is played by a Vietnamese Australian actress – Catherine Van Davies, and all the way down to the supporting cast you only see Asian faces. More importantly, “Hungry Ghosts” has just won an award from the Equity Foundation with Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Mini-series for 2021. What a great award to receive and recognition for one of my favourite Assie mini-series!
