So here is some news about our Ronny Chieng! Now, I know there have been debates over whether Chieng is “Australian” or not but in our books he is, as he spent his university years in Australia and his wife is a Melbournian. Chieng also started his stand up comedy career in Australia and has his comedy series the “International Student” featured on ABC a few years back ( which is loosely based on his own university life).
Anyways, Chieng has a successful career in the USA with his regular spot on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” and his stand up series on Netflix. And now he adds another feather to his huge repertoire – he has booked a recurring guest role on the Disney + reboot of “Doogie Howser” which takes place in Hawaii and titled Doogie Kamealoha, MD. This comes after he scored a spot in the ring on NBC’s Young Rock.
Chieng will play a heart surgeon, and is cast alongside other culturally diverse American actors: Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Kathleen Rose Perkins, Jason Scott Lee, Mapuana Makia and Matthew Sato.
Pretty awesome stuff!
