A very down to earth personality, Korean Australian Harry Jun is a veteran in the world of stand up comedy. Back in March, 2025, Being Asian Australian interviewed Jun about his identity and how his comedy reflects these experiences. Here is the piece if you are interested in checking it out.

2026 is proving to be a big year for Jun, who is doing a nationwide tour- showcasing his funny and smart stand up jokes and humour. “Inside Jokes, Outside Voice” is the title of his tour series and it represents Jun’s personality which is loud, proud and of course very funny.

“You know, I am all about the jokes and I am quite a loud person, so that is where the “outside voice” comes into play. I want audiences to enjoy all my jokes and many will be “inside jokes”- I hope all this makes sense”, Jun said in a recent interview with Being Asian Australian.

More recently, Jun has amassed million of views on TikTok and Instagram for his stand-up comedy and sketch content. He has also previously sold out his season of “Two Wongs & a White” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival performed alongside fellow Asian-Australian comedian Jenny Tian and earning a 4-star review.

So… with “Inside Jokes, Outside Voice”- what should audiences expect? Of course there will be loads of laughs, clever jokes and possibly some unhinged humour. But what else should audiences across the country expect?

“People will expect my style of comedy, which will involve stories about me, some stuff about my recent travels and there will be lots of interaction with the audience – because that is how I work my comedy. I say I am loud, but not loud in an obnoxious way, but more so energetic and connecting with the audience. So essentially expect a lot of silly jokes on a bunch of different topics”, Jun expressed.

The comedy scene in Australia is quite tough for Asian Australians – despite the fact a handful of them have actually made it. Comedians such as Diana Nguyen, Nazeem Hussein, Jenny Tian, Aaron Chen, many others and of course Jun himself have marked their territory and made a name for themselves here.

However, their journeys have not been easy, full of thorns and challenges but pure perseverance and jumping on any and all quality opportunities have benefitted these awesome Asian Australian comedians.

“You have these awesome Asian Australian comedians who have made a name for themselves. And it is so great to see them succeed. With these in the mainstream, it has also encouraged a new generation of Asian Australian comedians to give it a go. I think the environment for Asian Australian comedians has improved and it is getting better, but as you know there is always more work to be done”, Jun expressed.

“I try my best to support Asian Australian comedians, and hope they do not face the same walls and barriers myself and many others have faced. I try to give up and coming comedians opportunities I didn’t have when I started, and I know this is the ethos among us who are getting and doing the work”.
