This is such an awesome thing to do and very brave, as it is a total change of career and really life itself. Melbourne born and raised model /actor Dom Petchthamrongchai has given up the glitz and glamour of the Thai modeling and entertainment industry. At only 22 he has decided to give up this life and go into monkhood.

Dedicating himself to raising funds to build the first Buddhist temple in Hervey Bay, Brisbane, Petchthamrongchai stated that his family is supportive of his career change and one which is about reaching spiritual levels.

In a recent interview with ABC Brisbane, Petchthamrongchai spoke about this change and that he felt his modeling and acting career started to feel unhealthy for him;

“I used to be a very chaotic person, and I thought, ‘This is it. If I become a monk, maybe I could find some answers that would enrich me to really understand what my purpose is in this world, and what my goals are’,”

“Now, I know what my goals are. It is just a matter of action,”

If you are thinking this is something he will dedicate himself to forever, you are wrong. He states in his interview that he would be a monk for as long as he could and when he feels he has done as much as he can and feels like it is time to move on he will and plans to pursue studies in finance and law instead of returning to the glitz and glamour of entertainment.
