What an enigma! and a talent to look out for into the future! Australian tennis team qualifier, 27 year old Priscilla Hon breezed through the US Open, and took down 17th seed Liudmila Samsonova from Russia in the second round of a Grand Slam. A huge achievement for her and a major upset for the higher seeded player.

This was also the first time she has reached the third round at a grand slam. Currently ranked 106 ( which is quite good), Hon beat Samsonova in straight sets of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Not only has she gone beyond what she could have imagined, but she also takes home a minimum of $364,000 for just reaching this point. She tells news.com.au:

“It’s my favourite slam apart from the Australian Open, so can’t be much happier right now.”

“I love New York, everything about it. The fans, everyone that comes to watch, there’s so much energy, and it’s so chaotic, and there’s so much happening”.

“There’s something about it that gives me a lot of energy and it makes me want to do well.”

Her journey at the US Open ended after this (at the third round), but geez how awesome did she perform huh?
