“Here Out West” is a film directed by Fadia Abboud, Lucy Gaffy, Julie Kalceff, Ana Kokkinos and Leah Purcell – yes all women and by the looks of it quite a diverse bunch. The writing crew includes a few Asian Australians – including actor Arka Das (Mulan, Lion), Bina Bhattacharya, Claire Cao, Vonne Patiag and Tien Tran.

The film features even more Asian Aussies including: Leah Vandenberg, Arka Das ( who is also a writer for the film), Lena Cruz, Shameer Birges, Jing Xuan Chan, Brandon Nguyen, Christine Milo, Elise Violan, Warren Lee, Khoi Trinh and many others.
What is the film about? Well its all about 1 dramatic day, when a baby is kidnapped from a hospital by a desperate grandmother. The film is premised on the flight of this grandmother which sets a chain of events happening.
Want to see this film? Well it is the opening night film at the Sydney Film Festival, but tickets are all sold out – we will look around and find out when and where this film can be watched – as we at Being Asian Australian are looking forward to checking this out too!~
