Here we go again – more incidents of racism against Asians in Australia. The target this time are members of the Korean community in Australia.
A video posted by Yunsbari has recently emerged over social media where a group of Koreans in Australia sitting in a car are being taunted by a white Australian guy. If you watch the video you can see that it is at night and the group of Koreans ( the English translation stated they were a crew?- maybe a film or some project crew? If you can read Korean, please correct us if we are wrong). This happened in Springwood – which is in Brisbane Queensland. The videos has been viewed over 70,000 times.

9월6일 토요일 오전 4시10분경 스프링우드 라이온즈 게임장 주자창에서 어떤 남자가 우리 일행한테 인종차별을 시전했고 우리는 무시하고 차에 탔는데 그 남자가 갑자기 우리 차 운전석 문을 열었고우리는 놀래서 문을 닫고 잠갔는데 그는 창문에 얼굴을 들이대고 반대쪽으로 가서 차문을 열려고 했고 안열리니까 본인 일행있는 쪽으로 감. 그리고 우리는 주차장을 빠져나가는데 갑자기 우리차에 돌인지 뭔지 물건을 던졌고 차를 정차했더니 얼굴을 모자로 가리고 와서 트렁크와 앞좌석 뒷자석 차문을 다 발로 찼음. 그러곤 일행차에 타더니 도주를 하기 시작함. 우리는 따라가면서 경찰에 신고를 했더니 위험하다고 따라가지 말고 근처 경찰서는 문 닫았으니 라이온즈 주차장에서 기다리면 경찰을 출동 시키겠다고 함.댓글애 계속.
Saturday September 6th around 4:10 am some guy racially challenged our crew in the running window at the Springwood Lions playground and we ignored him and pulled him in the car but he suddenly opened the driver’s seat door and we were shocked to shut the door and fell asleep he put his face in the window and tried to open the car door but it wouldn’t so we went to the side where his crew was. And we were leaving the parking lot and suddenly threw a rock or something at our car and stopped the car and covered his face with a hat and kicked the trunk and the back seat of the car door. So I got in a group car and started running. We were following and reported to police they said don’t follow it’s dangerous the nearby police station is closed so wait at Lions parking lot they will deploy police.Comment and love continue
범인은 일행 차를 타고 가다가 차량 주인이 길가에 범인을 내려주고 범인은 반대쪽으로 도주하고 차는 다시 도주를 함. 우리는 다시 타번으로 가다가 도주차량을 마주쳤는데 차주는 자기 친구가 범행을 저지른거지 본인은 관계없다고 함.우리는 그건 나중에 경찰한테 얘기하라하고 타번 주자창으로 갔음. 경찰을 기다리는데 경찰은 안오고 범인이 다시 범행현장에 왔음. 우리는 위협을 느껴서 바로 경찰에 전화했고 아무도 없지만 그냥 시큐리티를 외쳤음. 범인은 다시 도망갔고 경찰은 위험하게 왜 거기에 있냐고 24시 열려있는 경찰서로 가라고 해서 마운트그라밧에 있는 경찰서로 가서 상황 설명하고 집으로 돌아옴. 범인을 잡는건 경찰에서 할 일이지만 보상은 개인적으로 받던 변호사를 선임하던 해야한다고 함.신고는 이제 인터넷으로 할 예정..

This entire incident is absolutely scary and from reading the descriptions, it doesn’t appear that the police took much action. Sometimes no racial words need to be said for an incident to be racist and hate fueled. Most of us watching videos like this understand instinctively that as Asians we are racial targets, especially in the current climate where racism divides society.
