An Asian owned takeaway eatery in Waterloo (inner western suburbs of Sydney), was going about his regular day at his shop, when social media influencer Anthony Lees walked into the store and handed him $5,000 cash- for just being a great guy.
Lees, aka “Spanian” Is a very popular YouTuber who has amassed over 1 million subscribers. This $5,000 giveaway was part of a Spanian challenge where he chose 3 dilapidated mum and dad owner operated takeaway eateries who he judged as having the best burgers. Sunny’s Takeaway in Chifley was judged by Spanian as one of these.
You can see by the video where Spanian walks into the shop and greets George- tells him his burgers were excellent and counted over $5,000 denominated in $100 bills. Shocked George refuses the money and as Spanian walks complimenting at what a good dude George is, you can hear and see him dumbfounded and kept on saying he can’t take the money.
The video ends with Spanian getting back into his car. Days after this video was posted, in a separate video, Spanian went back to Sunny’s to find the business booming with a long queue, and now has amassed many 5-star reviews.
As an update- Spanian has also launched his own kebab food truck and just weeks after launching the business it was burned down. It was a franchisee who owned the truck and the arsonists were caught on CCTV.
Spanian has stated that a new food truck was on its way. Let us know what your thoughts are on all this.
