Asian Aussie actress Diana Lin ( The Family Law, The Farewell) will be joining the cast of Hulu series “Interior Chinatown”. Comedian Ronny Chieng ( if we Asian Aussies also want to claim him as our own of course!) is also cast in this series.
Lin and Chieng will be joining Jimmy O’Yang (Love Hard, Crazy Rich Asians, Silicon Valley), Tzi Ma (The Farewell, Kung Fu, Tigertail, Mulan), Archie Kao (Chicago P.D.) and Chloe Bennet (Abominable, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) and others in this series – wowsers for diversity!
Lin will be playing Lilly Wu, the mother of Willis Wu (played by O’Yang) and will reunite with Ma who plays Joe Wu – both Lin and Ma also played parents in The Farewell – Awkwafina was their daughter in that film. Here is the premise of the film (via Deadline Hollywood):
…tells the story of Willis Wu (O’Yang), a background character trapped in a police procedural who is trying to find his way into the larger story — and along the way discovers secrets about the strange world he inhabits and his family’s buried history.
This looks so interesting. We know the Hulu streaming service isn’t available in Australia – so we will see what other ways Aussies can check out this series when it is released!
