Foreign Minister Penny Wong is currently in Indonesia on a delegation with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, other key Ministers. industry and business leaders in a bid to re-build lost relationship between Australia and Indonesia. There was not a lot of positive engagement with Indonesia from the former Government.
In saying that, Wong is showing why she is so well suited to the role as Foreign Minister as she pays respect to the region by making a video address to Australians in Bahasa Indonesian and talk about how she is proud to be Asian background and why this region is important to her. Gone are the days when Australia was just seen as the microcosm white outpost!
