SBS short-form drama “The Tailings” is a 6X10 minute drama series about a teenager investigating the circumstances behind the murder of her father. Mabel Li plays a newly graduated schoolteacher who arrives in town and has her own set of issues which have had no closure. The series has started shooting with the location being the West Coast of Tasmania. Asian Australian actor Tai Nguyen has also been announced as being part of the cast.
According to IF.com.au, Li talks about being part of this project:
“I am so thrilled to be filming in the beautiful lutruwita and to be working alongside some stellar female creatives, and I feel incredibly proud to be representing a modern young Chinese Australian woman in this story.
The West Coast’s moody mountainous backdrop has been the perfect setting to this dark, mysterious yet incredibly quirky story. Being isolated all in one place far from home has added an extra layer of intimacy to this production and I’m so excited for the world to see it.”
The series will premiere on SBS On Demand in 2021, so keep an eye out for it.
